Olympus PEN EP-2 & The Pen Gathering @ Royal Selangor, K.Lumpur

Firstly, thanks for Olympus Malaysia given us a chance to meet out their latest products, another new PEN model : EP-2. The event started on 11am til 3pm at Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, to be the first hands on the new EP-2! Plus a lunch meal provided as well, got Haagen Daaz Ice Cream Yummy~

Few months ago while the Olympus launched their 1st unit of Micro Four-Third camera, named EP-1. It was a very Big Bang through the photography market & people says it is a MUST to see what is so special about this newly technology, plus tiny camera. I was also become one of them with so many curios question in my mind, can’t wait to get hold on it & test it. Well, i’d done the testing at Sungai Wang Plaza, but only 1 fact i’m considering, how long will the battery long last? Haha… I’d used Lumix FZ-50 before, i love this camera because the live liew was great & also the view finder can do the job as live view mode does!

I might need to skip the talk introduction of the camera by the Olympus Malaysia officer, is just an comparison & new techngology of the camera provided. I believe you will understand by reading the specs below, else you are a PEN user. There are about 50ppl attending the gathering, this is my first time to be here, i’m alone too. But get to met some new friends & others 4/3 users

After the lunch, we had a sort of “lucky draw” to see who is gonna get a loan of PEN EP-1 & EP-2. EP-1 has about 20something units available, but the EP-2 got 6 units ONLY. Sad to heard the news, so we fill up our personal details on the small piece of paper, then put into a box. WHO KNOWS~ I GOT THE VERY LAST UNIT of EP-2!!! So lucky i’m~ quickly go to the counter & grab myself the EP-2. Ta Dah~~~

Now, the new Olympus PEN EP-2 had a optional view finder (VF-2). Compared to the previous view finder VF-1, this is more advanced than it, you may now using the VF-2 as your second live view point. I believe with this new part can save more battery power rather than using the 3.0″ Hyper Crystal LCD. The VF-2 also comes with a 1.44 million dots, can get a fine sharp images seeing through the VF-2.

Ok, let’s get to real test shot session i’d made. Most of the picture taken were under the low light condition, so i will try to bust up the ISO till 3200 of some pictures. All the way, i only attached with the 17m f2.8 Pencake lens only. Thus, i didn’t send to Kedai Gambar because i try out some cool Pop Art effects provided by the EP-2

Compared to the EP-1, there is two new POP ART Filter added DIORAMA & CROSS PROCESS. I like using this two effects & found out to be something diffrent. I can say this will becoming more like LOMOGRAPHY, can?

Astro Star Quest 2009 (新秀大赛) @ Stadium Putra, Kuala Lumpur

As i know this event usually held at Genting Highland, dunno how come changed place liao. Cut cost perhaps? Anyway, we got our own seats after entered: It wasn’t that good enough~. Because it is too far away from the stage, even if we stuck our Telephoto lens on our camera.

The “Smallest” Contestants

The Mini Car itself goes very fast, but when comes to corner, he had to slow down or else it will “terbalik”. If can, i would like to try driving the particular type of car too.

Basically the event has nothing to shout & the atmosphere wasn’t good at all, but still i had been over here from 12pm till 4:45pm. There is also a small stage on the upper roof of the building, which some of the dancers & DJ’s will make some noise!

I did remember i visited this event on last year & with couples of friends, enjoying the show & photography sessions on the racing cars & of course the sugar babes! But, this year i went alone to visit the place on Sunday, it dissapointed me on less visitors, less participants booth, less car shows, less babes, especially no Japan girl like last year liao, haiz…

The Race cars i can say is the same or maybe less participants compared to previous year. So i didn’t took many photos over here, i’m looking for something new to shot. As usual, the AFOS Babes will be visiting all the race stations, everywhere they pass through, sure packs of camera man will follow~ but i’m not the one lar.

Sometimes makes me more like to spy shoot peoples babes rather than other things over there, using my telephoto lens, trained abit lor. The Pit Walkabout only takes 1 hour, after that i came across to the AUTOCROSS place. Some of the local cars & branded cars been modified to do some drift, then i found this Mini Car caught my sights:

Lake Kenyir Resort & SPA

This is my first time travel to Lake Kenyir, the largest lake in Malaysia! Today i will introduce the resort we stayed & post out some nice pictures taken. The above pictures is the entrance, very beautiful local taste architecture build. Outside there is a huge pond with some Koei Fish & several types of plantations surrounding the pond.

Before we zoom into the hotel lobby, here is some introduction about the Lake Kenyir:

We Love Fashion

Long time i didn’t went to a fashion show for photography, since last year till now. Everyone knows this is a Fashion Season, every grand stores sure have this sort of event. Luckily i could spare out some time to go for this shooting, thanks for Fattien reminded me! On this event, i’m also tested my new gadget Olympus Zuiko 50-200mm lens! Kinda love it, but still need more practice to handle it well
